When trotting the feet tend to come close together at ground level, as the dog accelerates. But when it stops, all four legs should be full square.
The loyalty and protective instincts of Australian Cattle Dogs make them self-appointed guardians of herd, herdsman and herdsman’s property. While they are distrustful of strangers, they must be obedient, especially in the show rings. Any trait of temperament or build foreign to this breed’s nature must be regarded as a serious fault.
