Ca de Bestiars have a gaze like no other dog of their kind. Their rather small, slightly almond-shaped eyes, colored rosemary honey (fairly clear) or carob honey (dark), express intelligence and sadness, with a hint of suspicion.
Ca de Bestiars are big but not overly and of medium weight. They are all black or black with white markings on the breast, well balanced, hardy, strong, muscular, robust and agile.There are two varieties of coat: the short-hair, which is more common, and the long-hair.

Fej
Somewhat triangular viewed from the side. Viewed from above it is broader at the top. Must be solid but not heavy. The muzzle is as long as the skull, while the head is as long as the neck.

Robust, well balanced, expressing both strength and agility.

Bunda
Black is the only acceptable color, although all shades are tolerated. White is acceptable only on the breast, under the neck in the form of a fine necktie and on the feet.

Bent, smaller than the head, triangular. The tip extends to the caruncle of the eye. About as long as the skull.

Set horizontally, gradually rising towards the tip, it must be fairly thick at the base.

Short and abundant, growing to around ½-1 inch in the lumbar region. Very fine undercoat, fairly sparse, very flat against the skin. The long-haired variety may be a little curly in the lumbar region, growing to just over 2 ¾ inches depending on the time of year (longer in winter).
These very noble dogs recognize but one companion and have difficulty bonding with strangers. Intelligent, obedient, affectionate, very timid and reserved when young; it is uncommonly sensitive. A faithful companion to the end, they are courageous and quarrelsome.
