Polish Lowland Sheepdogs must be true to their roots as working dogs, so they must not be smaller than the measurements set down in the standard or fragile or delicate.
Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are average-sized, strong, compact dogs with well developed muscles and a long, thick coat of hair, which is an attractive and interesting feature.

Of medium size, proportionate, not too heavy. The skull is the same length as the muzzle, although it may be a little shorter.

More rectangular than square, pronounced withers, flat, very muscular back, broad, well-fused loins. The croup is slightly truncated. The height at the withers is slightly shorter than the length (ratio 9/10).

Set fairly high and hanging, of medium size, heart-shaped, broad at the base.

Short or stumpy at birth, if left undocked it is fairly long and very hairy.

As herding and guard dogs Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are easy to handle, but they also make great companion dogs in an urban setting. They are lively but not overly so, vigilant, alert, intelligent, perceptive and endowed with a good memory. Unfavorable weather conditions are not a problem.
