Tudta-e? ?
Cimarrons are the only native Uruguayan breed. While their roots are officially unknown, some suggest that they are descended from the dogs brought from the old world by the Spanish.
Members of the national breed in their native country, Cimarron Uruguayos have so many good qualities, not least herding livestock, hunting large game and protecting people and property. These medium-sized molossoid-type dogs are strong-boned, muscular, compact and agile. They are lauded for their balance, intelligence and courage.

The origin of Cimarron Uruguayos is uncertain, although some say they are descended from dogs brought along by the conquistadors, which were then abandoned and started to reproduce with each other. Only the best adapted, strongest and cleverest specimens survived, in the form we now know as the Cimarron Uruguayo. Realizing how valuable these dogs were, people started to domesticate them and gradually employed them to guard their property and herd their cattle.
