Tudta-e? ?
Although only officially recognized very recently, this little farm dog’s roots go back to at least the beginning of the last millennium. Bones of small dogs with similar characteristics to Danish-Swedish Farmdogs were unearthed in Normandy, France and have been dated to the time of the Viking settlement of northern France (11th century).
This solid, typically Scandinavian breed has plenty of skills, with good potential in fields as diverse as search and rescue in disaster areas, and driving and herding cattle.

The morphology of Danish-Swedish Farmdogs is reminiscent of some of the greatest of the terriers – including Jack Russels and Fox Terriers – but they have been in the shadows of dog fancy for decades. These are versatile dogs that can perform such diverse jobs as guarding property, catching rats and providing companionship. The breed was close to disappearing altogether as small farms went out of business, so the Danish Kennel Club held a census in 1980. Seven years later, Sweden and Denmark reached agreement on Danish-Swedish Farmdogs, although it would be 2007 before the F.C.I. provisionally recognized the breed.
