Sturdy and game with a great appetite for work, Sealyham Terriers are alert and fearless, but especially friendly as well.

Cpt. John Edwards started selecting this terrier in the second half of the 19th century, drawing on a whole plethora of British breeds. His ambition was to produce dogs capable of showing great courage in pursuit of badgers. The breed he worked so meticulously on would not set foot in the show rings until the early 20th century. While the Sealyham Terrier population has remained modest, it has fans across the globe.Free-moving, active, well proportioned, with a lot of substance in such a small package, Sealyham Terriers have a look all of their own. On the whole, the body is longer than it is high, not square-shaped like so many of its terrier cousins.
