Xolos go way back. They were regarded by the Aztecs as envoys from the god Xolotl, which is almost certainly where the name comes from. They had the task of accompanying the souls of the dead to the underworld. The first thing that strikes you about these very attractive dogs is the almost total lack of hair to cover their smooth, soft skin. They have a well proportioned body, broad chest, spacious ribcage, and long legs and tail.
