Tudta-e? ?
Despite having an ancestry that goes all the way back to ancient Egypt, these rabbit dogs were not recognized by the Spanish authorities until 1982. The F.C.I. recognition followed in 1987.
Imposing but never aggressive, Podenco Canarios are courageous, nervous, dynamic dogs that can work hard all day without showing the least sign of tiredness. They are selflessly devoted to their master or mistress.

Podenco Canarios originally arrived in the Canaries from Egypt, brought by Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians and Egyptians. Engravings, statues and bas-reliefs of this oldest of breeds have been found in the tombs of the pharaohs and now adorn the Louvre and the British Museum.Podenco Canarios are slender, medium-sized dogs that are extremely hardy. The bones are well developed. Due to the absence of fat, it is possible to make out the rib cage, the spine and the hip bones. The muscles are very highly developed in these lean dogs and muscle contractions can be seen through the skin.
