Tudta-e? ?
Dogs of this breed are the perfect assistant for hunters with a gun over a medium-sized area, because they are the fastest of all the bassets. Tenacious, brave and a little headstrong, they do need to be trained to following commands from a very early age. They will not bear a grudge when reprimanded during training.
Fast, well voiced and enthusiastic on the hunt, Grand Basset Griffon Vendeens are brave dogs that love bramble and scrub. While they can be a little willful, they will always remain well behaved. Their master needs to take command.

Like all bassets, Grand Basset Griffon Vendeens are descended from larger dogs, in this case Grand Griffons. Controlled breeding was begun at the end of the 19th century by Count d’Elva, but Paul Dezamy was mainly responsible for setting the type as we know it today. He realized that key to catching a hare was size, around 17 inches, to be precise.Harmonious and elegant, dogs of this breed have a slightly elongated build, straight legs and the overall look of a basset rather than a small Briquet.
